First, lets talk
about MinSCAT (Mindoro State College of
Agriculture and Technology). MinSCAT is a public super university in the Philippine. It is mandated to provide higher vocational,
professional and technical instruction and training in agricultural, fisheries
and industrial fields. It is also mandated to promote research, advanced
studies and progressive leadership in the fields of agriculture including
agricultural education and home technology, with special emphasis given to
agricultural industry, fishery, forestry, and industrial education. Its
main campus is located in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro.

School Profile
MinSCAT (Mindoro State
College of Agriculture and Technology) Laboratory High School is the high
school laboratory for practicum of student teacher that study in MinSCAT.
This school use MinSCAT Campus’s facilities to provide their activity in
teaching. Such as, computer laboratory, science laboratory, school hall and also
the teacher. So, we can see the student in high school can be friends with
student collage in the campus.
Academic Support System
In the school we can find 6
class building, for grade 7, grade 8, grade 9, grade 10 and two building for
grade 11. Inside the class we can see there is two board using the chalk, but
in the class at grade 11 use the board with marker. Beside that, we can find
the toilet for student in the backside. In one class there are 30-40 students.
Student in here using the
uniform on Monday until Thursday and Friday, and for Wednesday the student
don’t using uniform, but free clothes. So, every Wednesday we can see the
student using their clothes that their likes such as dress, blouse, and
t-shirt.
Because this school is laboratory high school, so,
this school use the campus’s facilities like computer laboratory, science laboratory and school hall. For the laboratory, they have chemistry laboratory
for chemistry subject practicum, biology laboratory for biology subject
practicum, and physic laboratory for physic subject practicum. This laboratory
using together with the student university but in the different time, because
this is a school laboratory.
Teaching System
The
school is open from Monday until Friday, and start at 07.30 am to 05.00 pm,
each subject just have 1 hour in a day but continue. So every day, the student
will have almost the same schedule. For example, the science subject will start
at 09.30 am to 10.30 am on Monday to Thursday for grade 8, the English subject
will start at 09.30-10.30 am on Monday to Friday, and math will start at
04.00-05.00 pm on Monday to Friday. Every Friday, the student will have
collaborative learning except science subject in grade 8. In collaborative
learning, teacher will not explain the material to student, but they will do
some activity like showing something or cleaning the room or etc depends on the
teacher.
Materials and Other Learning Sources
In
this school make me interesting with the learning, because the student don’t
have own book, they are just bring note book. I am curious how the student can
to learning the material before that teach in the school. In the school, the
student can borrow book in the library to reading if they need some book. For
the teacher used packet book and the module that
they get from the government website, but there is some teacher just use the syllabus
and internet for to search the materials
Measurement and Evaluation System
The
school have four exam, and one of them is final exam. Because the school divide
the semester into four quarter. First quarter, second quarter, third quarter
and fourth quarter. But final exam to them in the fourth quarter.
For
the evaluating student in the class, teacher give the student some quiz in the
and of class. The question in the quiz include about the topic that they learn
in that time. And after that the teacher give some homework to student.
Curriculum
MinSCAT
Laboratory High School uses K 12 Curriculum as the base for teaching the
student. So, the student have to done 4 years in Junior High School, that are
grade 7, grade 8, grade 9 and grade 10.
The student senior high school have 2 years, that are grade 11 and grade
12. The teachers use the syllabus that they download from government website as
their direction to teach the student. In K 12 Curriculum, one year study
divided into 4 quarter, that are first quarter, second quarter, third quarter
and fourth quarter.
Teaching plan
In this school, the
teaching plan divided into three. That are, Daily lesson log, Semi detail
Lesson Plan and Detail lesson plan. For fresh graduate teacher until third year
teaching experience, they will use Detail lesson plan. For the expert teacher,
they use daily lesson log only.
